Based out of Wilmington, NC, Rising Sun Fishing is owned and operated by Captain Pierre Agena. Our specialty is inshore and near shore fishing charters with a focus on various fish species such as Redfish, Flounder, Speckled Trout, and Black Drum, just to name a few. We also offer Sunrise and Sunset cruises.

AKA CAPTAIN “P”

Captain Pierre Agena is a USCG certified, licensed, and insured captain who has been fishing the Cape Fear area since he was a kid. In 2012, Captain Pierre moved to Wilmington to attend UNC-Wilmington and obtained his Masters of Arts in Teaching and began his career as an educator. In addition to teaching full time, Captain Pierre spent his summers working offshore and nearshore as a mate for Surf City Charters. This experience, coupled with his love of inshore fishing, has given him the knowledge and skills to become an avid angler on the greater Wilmington coastline.

In 2018, with this knowledge and experience, Rising Sun Fishing was born. The name Rising Sun is derived from Captain Pierre’s diverse family heritage. Rising Sun translated in Japanese is “Asahi”, the name of Captain Pierre’s grandfather. As a way to honor his family and recognize where he came from, the Captain feels this added a special touch to his business.
